How to Search the Elmore County Court Docket
Know which office holds the record before you search. The Elmore County Circuit Clerk keeps Circuit and District dockets. Estates and other probate matters sit with the Probate Office. City traffic, ordinance, and misdemeanor cases belong to a municipal magistrate. Federal cases run through PACER. Pick the wrong system and you may read a false "no result" on an Elmore County court docket that exists elsewhere. For state trial work, Just One Look gives on-demand access one case at a time. Alacourt.com serves subscribers who need read-only case details and available images. Neither one is the AlaFile filing login.
- Copy the complete case number from a notice, pleading, citation, or order.
- Select Elmore and the correct Circuit or District division.
- Search by number, or use the correct party spelling as a fallback.
- Verify the court, type, status, judge, and filing date.
- Read the newest setting and order, then contact the clerk if unclear.
Elmore County Docket Portal Choices
Alabama runs three systems, each with its own job. Just One Look is the public on-demand reader. Alacourt.com is its subscription counterpart. AlaFile handles registered filing and electronic service for attorneys and eligible self-represented users. AlacourtPlus supports clerk and judge offices internally. You never need a filing account just to read a public case.
| System | Main job | Not the same as |
|---|---|---|
| Just One Look | Paid one-case trial record access | A free county database |
| Alacourt.com | Subscriber case details and images | AlaFile filing |
| AlaFile | Registered electronic filing and service | General public docket lookup |
| Clerk counter | Free on-site electronic inspection | Free copies or certification |
Elmore County posts no separate county-built case database. When remote access fails, the Circuit Clerk counter is the core fallback for state trial records.
What a Court Docket Shows
Alabama calls its chronological court record a case action summary. The docket gathers header information, public participants, filings, service, settings, orders, disposition, and later appeal or enforcement events in one place. Think of it as an index and a history. A line marked "Order" does not reveal the signed order's full terms. "Motion filed" does not mean the motion was granted.
| Case Number | Complete court, type, year, and sequence identifier as printed |
|---|---|
| Header | Elmore court, filing date, case type, status, style, and assigned judge |
| Entries | Dated filings, service acts, settings, orders, and disposition |
| Participants | Role-labeled parties and counsel where public |
| Settings | Hearing type and date, sometimes with time or courtroom |
| Financials | Costs, fines, payments, or balances when exposed |
Want the full text of a filing? Pull up its image or ask the clerk for that exact document.
Elmore County Docket Versus File
Three products get confused here. The Elmore County docket, or case action summary, tells you what happened and when. A filed document holds the actual words of a complaint, motion, response, order, or judgment. A certified copy adds the Circuit Clerk's authentication to an on-file original. Each follows a different access and cost path.
- Case action summary
- The chronological index of case events and settings.
- Filed document
- The pleading, order, judgment, or other item behind an entry.
- Certified copy
- A clerk-authenticated copy of a filed or recorded original.
- Transcript
- The court reporter's word-for-word record, requested separately.
A browser printout is not clerk certification, so ask the recipient what proof it needs before you order anything.
Which Courts Keep Dockets
Jurisdiction decides who holds the record. Elmore sits in Alabama's Nineteenth Judicial Circuit. Circuit Court serves as the general-jurisdiction trial court, while District Court handles misdemeanors, felony preliminary matters, juvenile work, traffic, small claims, and limited civil disputes. Probate and municipal courts keep their own custodians.
| Court | Docket covers | Where to search |
|---|---|---|
| Elmore Circuit Court | Felonies, larger civil, domestic relations, appeals | Just One Look, Alacourt, Circuit Clerk |
| Elmore District Court | Misdemeanors, preliminary felonies, juvenile, lower civil, traffic | State services and Circuit Clerk |
| Elmore Probate Court | Estates, guardianships, statutory probate matters | Judge of Probate |
| Municipal Courts | City ordinance, traffic, adopted misdemeanor matters | Issuing city's magistrate |
| Federal Courts | Federal civil, criminal, and bankruptcy matters | PACER and federal clerk |
A municipal appeal may create a new Circuit number. Search both records when cross-referenced.
Elmore County Probate Docket Split
The Judicial Complex at U.S. 231 is not Wetumpka's only records counter. The Elmore County Probate Office sits at 100 East Commerce Street, Suite 100. It holds probate matters in its own record systems. An estate, guardianship, conservatorship, or other probate request should begin there. Do not start in Just One Look by assumption.
This two-building record map is easy to miss. Circuit and District court business belongs with the unified Circuit Clerk. Probate business belongs with the elected Judge of Probate. A city ticket belongs with its municipal clerk, unless an appeal has created Circuit activity.
Note: The event's location in Elmore County does not by itself determine which clerk keeps the court record.
Finding Court Dates and Settings
Elmore County publishes no single master calendar. Its official Circuit and District pages route readers to judge-specific "trial docket schedule" links. The case action summary and the latest notice remain the case-centered sources. Compare them before trusting an older web entry.
Start with the latest notice or order. Identify Circuit or District and the assigned judge, then consult that judge's schedule. Check the case number, style, date, time, courtroom, and setting label. If the schedule and notice conflict, call 334-514-3116 with the case number in hand. The Elmore County court calendar explains resets and setting labels in more detail.
A filed motion to continue is only a request. The setting moves when the judge enters an order or new notice. Earlier dates can remain in the history after a reset.
Elmore County Docket Schedules
Elmore County lists four Circuit judges on its local trial bench. It lists two District judges as well. Circuit Judges Amanda Baxley, Joy Booth, DeAnne Calhoon, and Patrick Pinkston carry the general-jurisdiction work. District Judges Glenn Goggans and Ben Baxley handle the District docket. The official page directs users through each judge's picture to that judge's schedule.
A grouped trial schedule does not prove that no later order changed one case. Confirm the current setting with the assigned court.
Public Access to Dockets
Alabama law protects access to public writings, while court-specific rules and orders define the exceptions. Electronic-data rules still protect your rights. You may inspect and purchase printed court records at Circuit Clerk offices. At the Elmore counter, public electronic dockets and filed documents may be viewed during regular hours. No inspection fee applies. Copies and certification are separate services.
Key Rules:
Alabama Code §36-12-40 protects inspection and copying of public writings unless law provides otherwise.
Alabama Code §36-12-41 addresses copies upon request and payment.
Rule 30 governs court copies, searches, prepayment, and certification.
Rule 33(D) preserves clerk-office inspection rights.
Juvenile, youthful-offender, adoption, sealed, and other confidential material may be limited or absent.
Elmore County Docket Missing Online
A blank search has several possible causes. The case may belong to a municipal, probate, federal, or neighboring county court. The name may differ. The case number may be incomplete. The file may be older and held on paper or microfilm. The record may also be confidential.
First verify Elmore, court level, division, number, spelling, and filing year. Then ask the Circuit Clerk. Options include on-site electronic inspection, archive storage, or an exact copy request. A confidential AlaFile case can be filed while its Alacourt details and images stay unavailable. Only an authorized process or court order can open restricted content. Alabama's Rules of Court-Record Privacy and Confidentiality took effect in 2025. Filers must redact protected identifiers. The clerk does not review each pleading for every redaction before filing.
The Clerk and Docket Records
Michael Dozier is Elmore County's elected Circuit Clerk. His office doubles as the record keeper and business manager for Circuit and District Court proceedings. Seven divisions operate under it: Civil, Criminal, Domestic, Child Support, Traffic, Juvenile, and Warrants. The staff handle pleadings, notices, subpoenas, and the money the court collects. They cannot offer legal advice. For an Elmore County court docket in person, go to the first-floor counter. You can also call with the case number handy. Or mail a written request to P.O. Box 310, Wetumpka, AL 36093. State law also allows a formal written request, though court access rules still apply.

Elmore County Docket Access Costs
Alabama lets you pay for convenience or go free. Remote access runs through Just One Look and Alacourt, both paid services. The Elmore County clerk's counter is different. During regular hours anyone may inspect an available docket and its document images. There is no charge. Look first. Order only the copies you truly need.
What do copies cost here? The clerk sets plain-copy, certification, and archive-search fees, so call ahead before mailing any funds. Rule 30 allows the clerk to require prepayment, and postage falls on the requester. One warning: don't assume another Alabama county's prices apply in Elmore County.
Filing through AlaFile feeds the electronic record. A filing still doesn't guarantee a public remote image. Confidentiality and redaction rules keep controlling what anyone can see. Want the official picture? The Alabama appellate judiciary publishes the state judiciary's own explanation of these access rules.

Where the record lives: the statewide judiciary supports Elmore County's court structure, but the local circuit clerk keeps the trial-court docket itself.
Elmore County State and Federal Dockets
Elmore County sits in the Northern Division. That division belongs to the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Alabama. Federal civil and criminal dockets run on CM/ECF, with public access through PACER. Bankruptcy cases belong to the Middle District Bankruptcy Court. Any federal appeal climbs to the Eleventh Circuit. None of those case numbers or documents will surface in an Alabama trial-court docket search. The PACER service is the official gateway to federal court records.

For federal matters, PACER or the federal clerk handles completeness and certified copies. For Elmore County Circuit and District cases, turn to Just One Look, Alacourt, or the Elmore Circuit Clerk.
Elmore County Docket Terms
Short labels in an Elmore County court docket can mislead if you skip the later entry. A setting only means a hearing was scheduled, not that it happened. A motion is a request, never a ruling, and the recorded outcome is the disposition, while an appeal can open a fresh docket.
- Docket call
- A grouped session used to check readiness and status.
- Continuance or reset
- A moved setting; the old event remains in history.
- Disposition
- The outcome or status concluding the main case.
- Nolle prosequi
- A recorded decision by the prosecution not to continue a charge at that time.
- Certified copy
- A clerk-authenticated copy of an on-file court document.
The court publishes no official list of Elmore abbreviation codes. So skip the guesswork and read the full event description on the docket entry itself.
Court Dockets by City in Elmore County
Each municipal court handles traffic, ordinance, and adopted misdemeanor cases filed inside its own city limits. A payment page tells you very little, though. It is not a full case action summary. Begin with the issuing city and the citation number, then contact that city's magistrate for the current court date or a copy of the record. If the case gets appealed, it can later open a Circuit Court docket in Elmore County.
Millbrook Court Docket
16,564 residents in 2020. Court meets on second and fourth Thursdays.
Wetumpka Court Docket
7,220 residents in 2020. Confirm city versus county custodian.
Tallassee Court Docket
4,763 residents in 2020. Cross-county geography makes issuing court vital.
Coosada Court Docket
1,217 residents in 2020. Hearings and payment counter use different addresses.
Eclectic Court Docket
1,193 residents in 2020. The municipal clerk is the web-search fallback.
The Elmore County service directory spells out the route. Tickets from city police stay with the municipality, while other traffic tickets go to the Judicial Complex.
Elmore County Docket by Distance
Elmore County spans 618.52 square miles, according to the 2020 Census, and held an estimated 91,577 residents in 2025. Distance matters here. A single courthouse cannot serve every docket need, so the county works best as a chain of channels. Remote case access comes first, then a phone call to confirm, then the Wetumpka clerk counter, mail requests, and the right municipal or probate office. None of them alone gives a full countywide court docket.
State services cut down on driving when you already have a Circuit or District case number. They cannot help with a municipal magistrate, the Probate Office, or a federal clerk. Those offices own their own records. So call ahead with the full identifier and ask three things. Is the file public? Can you view an image at the counter? Which building holds it? At the Judicial Complex, the Circuit Clerk, prosecutors, and probation offices all sit on the first floor. Courtrooms and judge offices are upstairs. That layout explains why a records question starts at the counter even when the hearing happens on another floor.
Local details trip people up. Wetumpka's Probate Office keeps a separate downtown address. Millbrook runs its Police and Municipal Court functions together on Grandview Road. Coosada holds hearings at the Community Center, yet court payments and magistrate contact go through Town Hall. Treat every Elmore County docket as one courthouse file. You may end up at the wrong building or in the wrong system.
Keep the chain simple. Name the court. Gather the case number, check the official remote channel, and confirm with the office that holds the record. For an old file, ask about paper, microfilm, or another repository. When an order appears without an image, request that exact filed document. Need proof? Ask whether a certified copy is required. Those steps save time and keep your Elmore County docket search accurate.
